Pride in Place money coming to Maindee

Newport City Council announced this year that Maindee District Centre is going to be part of a £20,000,000 investment from the UK Goverment's Pride in Place programme.

A Newport Neighbourhood PIP Board has been set up to manage the preparation of plans and deployment of this large fund.

Alison Starling, Chairperson of Maindee Unlimited, is delighted with the news. "Businesses, resideents and visitors using the District Centre along Chepstow Road are crying out for a cleaner, safer and more people-friendly environment. So this money is coming at a great time" She added that "Maindee is often overlooked when it comes to regeneration money so we need to make sure we get a decent slice of the cake this time". 

Maindee Unlimited organised and hosted a public meeting in Maindee Library on October 24th 2026 to introduce the PIP funding scheme and gather some initial thoughts  on local priorities.
