Maindee Village Partnership

As some of you will know, Maindee Village Partnership has been established since Autumn 2015 with a focus on “reducing vacancy rates; increasing footfall; and improving the physical environment” of the Chepstow Road area of Maindee. The Partnership has been supported by funding from Welsh Government through its Town Centre Partnership funding, with Peter Willis from Cynefin Newport providing resources to develop and deliver actions for local businesses, community groups and interested residents. Support provided by Cynefin Newport ceased in March 2016 with a need for some resource in meeting the short term requirements of the Partnership and importantly finding ways of keeping it going after September 2016.

To help Maindee Village Partnership, Chris Jones Regeneration, a local consultancy has been appointed by Newport City Council to help bridge the next few months. Chris Jones, supported by Chris Wade will be working alongside the Partnership, with the main areas of work focusing how to build the long term capacity of Maindee Village Partnership, identify activity for the future and importantly support partners with the delivery of its remaining year 3 activities.

To kick off this process, a meeting has been organised for 6-30pm on Tuesday, 21st June at Maindee Library for those people that have been involved in some way with Maindee Village Partnership. This will provide an opportunity for people to identify what has happened to date and to also highlight key issues and priorities that remain for the Chepstow Road area. There is outstanding money for ideas with Chris Jones Regeneration resourced to help the Village Partnership develop and implement actions that have a direct benefit for local businesses and for the community of Maindee. To find out more, come along on the 21st June or contact Chris Jones on 01873 880666 or email him on chris@chrisjonesregeneration.co.uk. We look forward to seeing you there!
