Meet Ian the new chair of the Maindee Festival Association

Festival 2021 - March News

Hello.

I’m Ian, and I’m the proud new chair of the amazing Maindee Festival Association.

I can confirm that we are aiming to bring you a Maindee Festival this year more about that in a minute.
Can I firstly start by saying thank you for reading this first blog. I’ve been involved in every festival since 2008. I am enthused and excited to be leading the organisation this year. The team here, past and present are wonderful humans. I value their decency, humanity, commitment, and passion.

In 2020 we managed to take a lot of the festival online and around the streets. The words that sum it up for me are Sunflowers, street skaters and soulful sounds.

I am sure you. like all of us have had enough of online. We are taking a bit of a risk, but our aim is to have a smaller festival than normal. It is our full intention to see you in person. In the lead up we will be using online for meetings, planning, and workshops, but the big day is all about being out there in real life. I hope you are as excited as I am to be able to meet up again.

To help us, we’ve made a big decision already. We feel our normal first week in July is still a little bit too soon after the completion of a hopefully a successful full release from lockdown, so we’ve moved us up the calendar to…

Saturday 21st August 2021! Save the date.

In the next few blogs, I’ll introduce myself a little more, I’ll tell you all about the theme of the 2021 festival and what that theme means to me.

I’ll also be looking for any help I can get to make this an amazing festival year.

Catch you on the next one.
