Maindee Festival News
2007 Festival Success!
The fluffy clouds and warm sunshine
was enough to guarantee a successful Maindee Festival. The “metamorphosis”
street parade and then an afternoon of diverse music, dance and arts turned
that success into a triumphant celebration of local cultures and communities.
Thankyou to everyone who worked
so hard to make it such a spectacular day.
We will be posting a link to the
2007 Festival Gallery soon, so check the website soon to see just how good it
was!

Festival welcomes new sponsors
This year we are welcoming two
new sponsors to Maindee Festival. (You can see all our sponsors here).
Arts and Business have helped
us this year because, for the first time, we are being financially supported by
Modus Developments, the company that
is developing Friars Walk and City Spires in the City Centre.
We work hard to secure the money
needed to put on the Festival and keep it free for all our visitors. But our
costs are rising each year and we need to be always looking for new financial
supporters. So the arrival of Modus and A&B is great news for us and we are
very grateful for their generous support.
Will it rain at Maindee this year?
The last time there was a real
downpour at Maindee Festival was in 2001. So we’ve been really lucky with the
weather. But what are the chances of it raining this year?
The risk of rain on any
particular day can only be predicted with any accuracy a few days before. But
statistics show that July is the driest month of the year.
The table below shows average
monthly weather recorded in the Cardiff Weather Centre over the 30 years to
2000. There is a 1 in 4 chance of 1mm or
more of rain falling on any one day in July. This compares with a 1 in 3 chance
in September and a 1 in 2 chance in December. The average rainfall per wet day
in July is just under 7mm.
The Met Office
are predicting another hot Summer – so keep your fingers crossed for another
sunny Maindee Festival!
