Have a great day out at Maindee Festival!
The Festival is on Saturday July 4th 2009.
PARADE: The parade starts at midday from Newport Rugby Club
and makes its way along Corporation
Road, Harrow
Road, Rugby
Road and Eton
Road before finishing at Maindee Primary School
at around 12.45pm. If you are frail or
need to be near a loo, then you can watch the parade
go by Community House in Eton Road.
The friendly helpers at Community House can provide you with a chair and you will
be able to use the disabled loo inside their building.
SITE EVENTS: Festival
site events start at 1.00pm in the grounds of Maindee Primary School,
108 Corporation Road
and finish at 7.30pm. The event is suitable for people of all abilities. The site
is level throughout. Most of the main
site is on grass, but the access routes are all on hard surfaces. An outdoor disabled
Portaloo is available. An indoor disabled toilet is also available on request.
DISABLED PARKING: All parking on site required a permit. You can get a
parking permit on request by contacting us at info@maindee.org
or by phoning 01633 762155. Do not arrive by car and expect to park on site
without a permit! To access the site by
car you or your driver should use Rodney
Road (behind Rugby Club). There is no vehicle access
to the site from Corporation Road.
HELP ON SITE: If you need any particular help on site, for example
if you are blind and would like an elbow guide, we can provide you with a
helper during your visit. It would help us if you could contact us in advance at
info@maindee.org or by phoning 01633
762155 to let us know when you plan to arrive so that a helper can be ready to
meet you at an agreed point.
AFTER PARTY: This year’s after party is in TJs
on Clarence Place.
Tickets are £5. Doors open at 9. Late finish. Level access with a small step
at front door. We can provide a helper
for the after party. Please contact us as above to discuss your requirements.
